Last year I wrote on the evolution of the textile industry and its trends on sustainability. Of course, the impact of this key theme has expanded greatly over the months, so I seize the chance to raise the subject again, analyzing the importance of a key natural fiber: linen. Dominant material of Spring/Summer 2021 for woven menswear , this ancient fiber is the answer to two key trends: sustainability and a sports look. A natural fiber coming from flax, which requires very little water, pesticides and retains huge quantities of CO2, linen can be used without dyeing, since it naturally offers a rich colour palette. Additionally, linen's natural slubs confer a sports look to the fabrics woven with them.
